Hyundai Launches Exter Facelift At Rs 5.79 Lakh; Gets Design & Tech Upgrades
Hyundai Motor India has launched the facelift of its micro-SUV Exter in India, with prices starting at Rs 5, 79, 900 (ex-showroom). The compact SUV gets more than 25 updates across design, technology, comfort and safety, while continuing with the same powertrain options.
Hyundai says the EXTER has already crossed over 2 lakh customers in India since its debut, and this update aims to strengthen its position in the segment with added features and improvements.
Design Updates and Exterior Changes
The new EXTER gets a revised front and rear design, including a wider front fascia, updated bumper styling and a redesigned black radiator grille. It also features new R15 diamond-cut alloy wheels and a wing-type spoiler at the rear.
Hyundai has also added new elements such as a centre garnish at the front, updated tailgate and C-pillar garnish, and more pronounced wheel arch cladding to give the SUV a stronger road presence.
The EXTER continues to stand as the tallest SUV in its segment and also offers the longest wheelbase, which translates into better headroom and cabin space.
In terms of dimensions, the SUV measures 3, 830 mm in length, 1, 723 mm in width and 1, 643 mm in height (with roof rails), along with a wheelbase of 2, 450 mm.
Interior Changes and Cabin Features
Inside, the EXTER gets a new dual-tone Navy and Grey interior theme along with a 3D carbon-pattern dashboard finish. The cabin also features a D-cut steering wheel and metal pedals, which are being offered for the first time in this segment.
Other updates include new seat upholstery, a folding driver armrest, and improved ergonomics. Hyundai has also made driver seat height adjustment and adjustable rear headrests standard across all variants.
The SUV continues to offer easy ingress and egress, along with good knee room and headroom. Boot space stands at 391 litres for the petrol version.
Technology and Connectivity
On the technology front, the EXTER now offers a dashcam, which Hyundai claims is a first in the segment. It also comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with a new Type-C USB port for rear passengers.
The SUV continues to offer more than 60 Bluelink connected features and supports over 300 embedded voice commands that can work without internet connectivity. Other features such as an electric sunroof, digital instrument cluster and OTA updates for maps and infotainment are also available.
Engine and CNG Option
The EXTER continues with a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder Kappa petrol engine, available with both manual and AMT transmission options. Hyundai claims it is the only SUV in its segment to offer a 4-cylinder engine.
The model also comes with a CNG option, featuring a dual-cylinder setup. The CNG variant now gets an underbody spare tyre as standard, which helps retain usable boot space of 225 litres. The setup is designed to offer practicality for both daily commuting and longer drives while maintaining balanced ride and handling.
Safety Features : Hyundai has added more safety features to the EXTER, which now offers over 45 advanced safety features. It also comes with 30 safety features as standard across all variants.
Key additions include Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC) as standard. The SUV also continues to offer six airbags as standard.
Colours and Variants : The EXTER is available in seven monotone and one dual-tone colour options, including two new shades – Golden Bronze and Titanium Black Matte.
Other colour options include Titan Grey, Atlas White, Starry Night, Titanium Black, Ranger Khaki, and Ranger Khaki with a black roof.
